Proposed Program Two young pianists from the foothills won the Sierra Symphony’s 2008-2009 Young Artist Competition this spring, and both will perform their winning entries with the orchestra in concert on Sunday May 3 at 3:00 PM. David Looi (14) of Gold River will perform a movement from Beethoven’s 5th piano concerto (The Emperor), and Daniel Peng (13) will perform a movement from Mozart’s concerto No. 23. The outstanding abilities and musicianship of these two young artists will dazzle the audience. The orchestra looks forward to this annual event in which we are able to present the accomplishments of highly talented and promising young musicians to our community. The orchestra will also perform Antonin Dvorak’s beautiful and profound Symphony No. 9 (the “New World”) and Jean Sibelius’ tone poem “Finlandia.” Don’t miss this opportunity on Sunday May 3 to hear live symphonic performance of the world’s great music, which will take place at Placerville Seventh Day Adventist Church on Mother Lode Drive at Missouri Flat. Tickets are $15 for adults, available at the door; children and students through high school attend free. |
